If the public would do these 3 things, there would not be puppy mills:

1.  NEVER buy a puppy from a pet store.  Never Never Never.  99% of those dogs are shipped in from puppy mills.  

​

2. If you are able to have a mixed breed, go to your nearest dog shelter and look there first.  

​

3.  If you want a purebred dog or puppy, find a reputable breeder who will let you visit their home.  

That is the only way to ensure you are not getting your puppy from a puppy mill. Puppymills will not let you come to their home.  Do a FaceTime appointment with the breeder to see the puppy in real time before sending a deposit.  Getting a puppy is a 15 year commitment, you have the right to see where your puppy was born and raised.
